Lessons from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara | Retro Review

This film had been on my watchlist for quite some time. It was released in 2011, but I only had the opportunity to watch it yesterday, in 2021. I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t watch it sooner because I enjoyed it so much. If you haven’t already seen it, please stop reading and go watch it right now.

As you know, whenever I watch a movie or a series, I try to take away some message from it, and “zindagi na milegi dobara” has a lot of messages and life advice.

Summary

This film is about three friends, Arjun, Kabir, and Imran, who go on a road trip as a bachelor party for one of their friends who is getting married. They have a long-standing pact that each of them will pick up an adventure sport and the others must participate. At some point in the film, we, the audience, can identify with at least one of the movie’s friend characters. I don’t want to ruin the movie any further, so please watch it now.

Learnings

Live your life – Live life to the fullest; we postpone enjoying life in the present in order to enjoy it later when we retire. Don’t do that.

Speak up – Say what you think. DO what your mind and heart tell you to do. When confronted with difficult situations. You must learn to say no.

Take challenges – Don’t always play it safe. Take chances and look for new opportunities. I don’t mean to say that do stupid things will take you to jail or you end up dying.

Face your fears – We are all afraid of something. Fears of doing things that are known and sometimes unknown. Enjoy the rush, face your fears, and win.

Life is beautiful – This life is short, unpredictable, and beautiful, so make the most of it.

Make Friends – Friendship is a lifeline, and true friendship is a blessing.
